My Scrub-Bee smells…now what?
If your Scrub-Bee ‘smells,’ even after you’ve washed it, it means the bacteria in your Scrub-Bee has not been killed. We have found that this issue tends to occur when it isn’t being washed “hot.” Make sure, when you wash your Scrub-Bee in the washing machine, you wash it on a hot setting. However, if your Scrub-Bee does smell, here are two ways to take care of that issue:
Solution #1
Put your Scrub-Bee in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Sprinkle about 1 T. of baking soda on your Scrub-Bee and ½ cup of vinegar. Let this sit until it stops foaming. Add boiling water, enough to cover the Scrub-Bee. Let soak for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse well and dry.
Solution #2
Add boiling water and 1 T. of bleach to a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Stir to mix and add your Scrub-Bee to the bleach water. Push the Scrub-Bee down, so it gets submerged in the bleach water. Let soak for about 20 minutes. Rinse well and dry.
Wooden Utensils
All of our wooden products come ready to use straight from purchase, however here are a few guidelines for caring for your new product:
- If we could only give you one warning, it would be: DO NOT put this item in the dishwasher, hand wash only.
- Once the item has been washed (by hand), leave to air dry before putting it away.
- Try to wash the product as soon as possible, e., don’t leave the product submerged in water or in a pot of food for extended periods of time.
- Our products are carved to However, it goes without saying, if you try to break it, you will. Woodenware is not as durable as metalware, but as long as you use your product for what it is intended for, you will have no issues.
- All of our wooden utensils are finished using a food safe linseed oil. Over time this finish will begin to wear off. You can choose to leave it as is and build up a wonderful patina which shows character; or, if you prefer, you can apply another coat of any food safe oil. (Linseed/flaxseed oil, walnut oil, even olive oil would be a fine substance to use.) Simply wipe on the oil with a paper towel and leave to soak for a few minutes, then wipe off any excess with another paper towel. We recommend leaving the product overnight to fully dry again before using.
These are the only steps you will need to maintain and care for your wooden product. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@fggdesigns.com.
Dryer Balls
To use the dryer balls simply throw them into your dryer with your wet clothes or diapers and dry as you normally would.
Why Dryer Balls?
1. They are an eco-friendly alternative to the conventional dryer sheet.
2. They do more than a dryer sheet by pulling the moisture out of your clothes so you don’t have to run your dryer as long, saving you time and money.
3. They reduce static just like dryer sheets do but may not take it away completely. To help static be sure not to over dry your clothes, and using vinegar in the rinse may help too.
4. They soften your clothes like liquid fabric softener when they’re bouncing around your dryer. Fabric softener has harsh chemicals that make your clothes soft but could be a problem for sensitive skin. Use as many as you want. The more, the better the results.
5. They’re made of 100% wool!
