Show Notes
Over the past couple of years we have been expressing ourselves to you via blogs, however, after much research, we have found that we can be more open and communicate more freely with podcasts. So that is what we have decided to do. This is our first podcast, and in it, we will be introducing you all to our family.
Kent and Willina (Grandpa and Grandma)
Grandpa and Grandma were both born and raised in the U.S. but later in life moved overseas to Holland. Grandpa’s role in the business is our “spiritual advisor,” and throughout this podcast series, you could expect little words of wisdom from him. Grandma’s role in this business is her “Fit-To-Be-Tied” buttons. They are a fantastic collector’s item or would make a great decoration. Over the years, Grandma has collected not hundreds, but thousands of buttons.
Lydia (Mom)
No newcomer to the Artisan business, Lydia was born in Holland and moved to the U.S. after both her children (Michael and Elisabeth) were born. Lydia is skilled in the areas of crochet, paper art, and leather craft. She has been using her skills in paper art for many years making personalized 3D Greetings cards.
Michael
He is the oldest of Jonathan and Lydia’s children and the oldest grandson. He was born in Holland and moved to the U.S. when he was 12 years old. Michael is a mechanic by day but when he gets home, he “transforms” into a ring making machine…well, not really, but he does make rings!
Shaun “the Brit”
Born and raised in England, this is where he met Elisabeth and later got married and has now moved to the U.S. Shaun is the woodcarver (sawdust maker) for the business and is responsible for a lot of the wood chips found in various places around the home.
Elisabeth
Wife of Shaun, daughter of Jonathan and Lydia, Michael’s younger sister, and oldest granddaughter. Again, like her brother, she was born and raised in Holland and lived there until the age of 10, when they all moved to the U.S. Elisabeth has so many parts in this business, it’s hard to keep track. She is the photographer, wood burner, website doer person and many more!
Jonathan (Dad)
Jonathan is the opposite of Elisabeth, he was born in the U.S. and moved to Holland when he was 10. This is where he met his wife Lydia and had his two children before moving back to the U.S. Jonathan is the host of this podcast series and is responsible for so much of the work behind the scenes of the business. Soon, we hope he will be able to join us in our production line by making knives, of which he has already shown great skill in making.
