The Father: Aviation, Computers, Knife-Making

As we start out on a new family venture I will tell a little bit about myself…

Jonathan
Jonathan, The Father

The Early Years

Through the years, I have had the opportunity and blessing to gain knowledge and work for people in many different fields. I have been interested in aviation from my earliest youth. I started by going to a technical college for aeronautical engineering in the Netherlands, but changed course to spend time helping missionaries in France and Germany. That lead to me going to Bible School in the United States and eventually taking seminary classes in France. While there, I gained an interest in computers of the personal nature, which was just starting to develop. I had an unexpected opportunity to do some schooling in electrical engineering in the Netherlands. During this time, I grew in my understanding of what it meant to serve and live for God.

As my life has developed, I have had many opportunities to serve the Lord. By God’s grace I have been able to encourage different church families with His Word. As an IT consultant, I have also been able to help others with their computer and network problems. Since we have been back in the United States, I have learned a new field of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), which I service.

And Now…

knife-making
A handcrafted knife.

While developing interests in survival/prepping, gardening, and small scale farming, I have grown an interest in knife making as well. The world of custom knife making is vast. Fixed blades and folders of all types; chef’s, hunting, filleting, survival, utility, tactical knives, and swords, to just name a few. I started with hunter/survival/utility type knives and enjoy furthering the process of knife making.

Besides the development in the vocational realm, I always enjoy spending time with my family and brothers and sisters in the Lord, encouraging others and being encouraged by God’s Word.

In my life, work is not just a way of making a living but it is the means by which I can glorify God by helping and encouraging others. Life, for me, is about serving God, and ministering to and serving people.

  1. Hi Jonathan! I had no idea you were so diversely talented! So, if I understand correctly you will start a buisiness of knife making? I may just have some customers for you under my own roof! Not only that, but Devin could promote your knives with the guys at work. ??? I love handcrafted and beautifully designed utilitarian things!
