God’s Grace
Many decades ago God, in His mercy, rescued me from darkness into His light.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Road trips with my beloved
About once a month Jonathan and I like to spend a day out thrift shopping. The treasures we sometimes find is quite amazing. They make us want to run out the store, jump in the car and take off speeding so that no one will be able to catch us and steal our valued finds.
A Dutch cup of coffee
Ahh, that first cup of coffee in the morning is so good! The aroma that lingers through the house, early in the morning, is just wonderful. And then that second cup – I just can’t make up my mind which cup I like better; as long as it is Dutch coffee (and I am not at all biased).
The children with whom God has blessed us.
A son AND a daughter?! Who could have thought that? Only God, in His sovereignty, granted us the blessings of Michael and Elisabeth. And about a year and a half ago the Lord blessed us with yet another son, a son-in-love, Elisabeth’s husband, Shaun. He fits so well in the family and is the perfect match for our daughter. God is so good!
Eternal Life
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)
By God’s grace and through faith in Jesus Christ, I am saved from God’s wrath and eternal damnation. Because of this gift, I now have hope for the future to, one day, in God’s perfect timing, be with Him in glory.
Family and Friends
Gathering around the table with family and friends, enjoying food and fellowship, and reflecting on God’s faithfulness and promises is one of the highlights of our Thanksgiving Day.
Unchanging Faithfulness of God
One of my favorite ways of expressing my thankfulness to God is through music and song. An old Hymn states it so well:
‘Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!’
Last but not least
I am thankful for the privilege of working together as a family, firstly to serve our Lord and Savior and secondly to serve and encourage YOU with our blog writings and our handcrafted goods. May your Thanksgiving be centered around The One Who gives us reason to be thankful.
