It’s hard to know exactly for sure. The Scrub-Bees we use on a daily basis are still going as if they were brand new. What we can say is this, if you take good care of them and wash them regularly they will last you for many years.
If your Scrub-Bee ‘smells’, even after you’ve washed it in the machine, it means the bacteria in your Scrub-Bee has not been killed. We have found that this issue tends to occur when it isn’t being washed “hot”. Make sure, when you wash your Scrub-Bee in the washing machine, you wash it on a hot setting. However, if your Scrub-Bee does smell, here are two ways to take care of that issue:
Solution #1
Put your Scrub-Bee in a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Sprinkle about 1 T. of baking soda on your Scrub-Bee and ½ cup of vinegar. Let this sit until it stops foaming. Add boiling water, enough to cover the Scrub-Bee. Let soak for about 15-20 minutes. Rinse well and dry.
Solution #2
Add boiling water and 1 T. of bleach to a glass Pyrex measuring cup. Stir to mix and add your Scrub-Bee to the bleach water. Push the Scrub-Bee down so it totally gets submerged in the bleach water. Let soak for about 20 minutes. Rinse well and dry.
Our Scrub-Bees are 100% handmade, and not just that, but handmade to last. They can handle much more than your regular store-bought scrubber and will last years if looked after properly. They also come in a wide range of colors, allowing you to have the one that suits you best.
They are about 4 inches and circular. We find this size and shape to be very comfortable in the hand and a nice size to store away.
The only use we have found that our Scrub-Bees have a little harder time with is cleaning dishes with melted cheese. BUT, there is still a solution to getting them clean: toss the Scrub-Bee in the freezer, let the cheese completely freeze, then simply pull off all the cheese and throw the Scrub-Bee in the next wash.
