The What
What is a podcast? We answer that in this episode. A podcast is a relatively recent thing, dating all the way back to…2004. Interestingly enough, the podcast origins are tied to all three of the countries we represent, England, Holland, and the USA. A podcast, in its simplest form, is a pre-recorded radio broadcast. We spend time recording ourselves talking about a certain topic and then once recorded we upload that for all to hear.
The Why
So why do we podcast? Well, as we mentioned before, we spent quite some time writing blogs in the past two years. However, a written document can only portray so much. With a podcast, we can put a voice behind the words. We want you to get to know our family and business on a more personal level. We aim to provide the best quality products we can, and with that, we believe you should know the maker. Knowing someone’s thought process behind a piece of art can enhance how special that item is, and that is what we want for our products.
We also decided to podcast, not just for your sake, but for ours. Podcasting is a great way to be heard, and thus it is a great way to promote our business, it’s a win-win.
The How
So that’s why we podcast, but what about you? Is podcasting something you think you could try? Well before you do, let us explain just a few things we have learned so far. Some pros to podcasting are: a wide range of audiences to listen, podcasts are a very popular entertainment source, and a podcast is a lot simpler to listen to than reading a blog or watching a video. There are more Pros which we discuss in more detail during the podcast. However here are some of the Cons: it can be very expensive to have a nice recording setup, it takes a lot of time and planning, and it also takes a long time before you see any fruit. You could be podcasting for a year before you realize something that needs to change, or worse, the podcast isn’t working for you! Again, there are more Cons which we discuss in greater detail in the podcast itself, so take a listen.
