What is the Big Deal About Easter?

Two white daffodils in tall green grassLaying the Foundation

In our blog articles, we want to start focusing more on the things we are making. So, you might wonder why we focus on so many other things. Part of these blogs help the reader get a better understanding of the makers of the products; others help in understanding the products and production processes. But before we get to the products themselves, we must understand the makers of the products. We must first lay the foundation for why we do what we do, and then we can get to the what and the how we do it.

Celebration of Easter

This month we celebrate Easter. This is the day that Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. You might wonder how is that possible? How can someone be raised from the dead? You might have heard of resuscitation which is when a person is presumed dead and yet is brought back to life for an undetermined amount of time just to die again eventually.  Jesus even raised some from the dead but they, too, eventually died.  One who is truly resurrected from the dead will no longer die. So far, the only one who has been resurrected like that is Jesus Christ. However, for those who trust in Him, there is a future resurrection that is eternal.

An Empty Tomb and a Victorious Ruler

Of all the religions in the world, there is only one where one can go and find an empty grave. There were many witnesses of His Resurrection and Ascension into Heaven where He is now seated at the right hand of God. He is the one who in His providence and sovereignty rules this earth.

As one who has put his trust in Him, I realize Who He is. That is what drives me (us) to want to glorify Him in everything that I (we) do.

So, What’s the Big Deal about Easter?

So why is this day important? It sets the Christian faith apart from every other religion. And as followers of Christ, we are set apart because of the distinction found in the One we follow. We recognize that all the gifts and talents we have are already a part of that resurrection process that we will someday experience totally, but now only in part as our lives are being transformed into the likeness of Christ. We seek to glorify Christ because that is the very least we can do for Him because of what He did for us. Easter, or as we like to call it, “Resurrection Day” is when we celebrate Christ’s power over death and victory for all those who by faith trust in Him. Next time we will look at more of the details leading up to the Resurrection.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb. They went in but did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men stood by them in dazzling clothes. So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground.

“Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men. “He is not here, but He has been resurrected! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men, be crucified, and rise on the third day’?”- Luke 24:1-7
